We talked about it last night on the show, we tried to talk about it on the failed show last week, and here are the picks. Main card commentary brought to you by Armando.
|Ivan Menjivar vs. Charlie Valencia||Menjivar||Valencia||Valencia|
|Claude Patrick vs. Daniel Roberts||Patrick||Patrick||Patrick|
|Jake Ellenburger vs. Sean Pierson||Ellenburger||Pierson||Ellenburger|
|Nate Diaz vs. Rory MacDonald||MacDonald||Diaz||MacDonald|
|Mark Bocek vs. Ben Henderson||Henderson||Henderson||Henderson||I like how Bocek looked against Dustin Hazelett, and he gave Jim Miller a run for his money, but Bendo is out for revenge, and he’ll make this first step back a memorable one. Also of note: 3 of Bendo’s last 4 fights have netted an OTN
bonus (2 FOTN, 1 SOTN), and this one will as well.
|Jason Brilz vs. Vladimir Matyushenko||Brilz||Matyushenko||Brilz||I don’t think either guy will be
a contender, but Brilz will take it. And hopefully Vlad will take the
Randy approach and hang it up after the fight.
|Randy Couture vs. Lyoto Machida||Machida||Couture||Machida||This is gonna be a fucking WAR. Both
men are gonna bring it: Machida to avoid that dangerous 3-fight losing
streak, and Couture to go out with a bang against a real fighter
(read: not James Toney). I think Machida’s elusiveness will prove too
much for Couture in the end, but it’ll be close.
|UFC Featherweight Championship: Jose Aldo (c) vs. Mark Hominick||Aldo||Aldo||Aldo||No need to go into depth on this one –
Aldo is a runaway favorite, and will add another notch to his belt.
Mendes will be next, and should prove to be a competitive challenge to
|UFC Welterweight Championship: Georges St. Pierre (c) vs. Jake Shields||St. Pierre||St. Pierre||St. Pierre||Dress it up however you want to,
Dana: this fight is really Georges St. Pierre vs. a worse version of
Georges St. Pierre. Shields has no chance.
Before we go, let’s refresh everyone’s memory on where we stand a quarter of the way through our MMA Challenge. Casey on the way down, Armando moving up into the lead:
